Step 1: Confirm your eligibility
Check whether you qualify as an NRI, OCI or eligible person of Indian origin.
Step 2: Select the NRE Savings Account
Review the balance requirement, fees, banking access and other account conditions.
Step 3: Prepare the documents
Arrange your passport, proof of NRI status, address proof and category-specific documents.
Step 4: Complete attestation, if required
Have overseas documents attested by an accepted authority.
Step 5: Submit the application
Apply through the available digital, overseas or branch-assisted route.
Step 6: Complete verification and fund the account
Once verification is complete, deposit the applicable opening amount.
NRE and NRO Rupee Savings Account Documentation: Is It Different?
Kotak Mahindra Bank requires the same core KYC documents to open both NRE and NRO Rupee Savings Accounts.
All KYC documents provided to be mandatorily self-attested, except on furnishing original documents / certificates.
Your NRE savings account will be maintained in Indian Rupees.
Yes, the funds held in your savings account are fully and freely repatriable (both principal and Interest).
The minimum amount required to open NRE savings account is Rs. 10,000/- or its equivalent in foreign currency. You would be required to maintain an Average Monthly Balance of Rs. 10,000/- only.
Average quarterly balance is the sum of daily closing balance of all the calendar days in a quarter divided by the number of days in that quarter.
