What is Click2Remit and how does it work?

Click2Remit, also known as C2R, is Kotak's online remittance service that allows NRIs to transfer money from a foreign bank account to any bank account in India. The service offers competitive exchange rates, transparent charges, and real-time tracking. C2R is currently only available in the US. 

What is the limit on Remittances?

Remittance limits for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) vary based on the type of account and the nature of the transaction.

 

Outward Remittance Limits for NRIs:

•       Non-Resident External (NRE) Account: No limit applies to remitting funds abroad from an NRE account.

•       Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) Account: NRIs can remit current income—such as rent, interest, or dividends without any limit. However, remittance of capital income (proceeds from the sale of immovable assets, investments, etc.) is capped at USD 1 million per financial year.

 

Inward Remittance Limits for NRIs:

There is no cap on the amount NRIs can send to India. However, individual remittance service providers or platforms may impose their own transaction limits based on their operational policies.

Do I have to pay taxes for remitting money from abroad?

No, you do not have to pay any tax in India when remitting money from abroad. However, your foreign country of residence may collect taxes on the money remitted from abroad.

Is Money Transfer Safe to use?

Yes, money transfer services offered by regulated banks like Kotak are safe and secure. Transactions are in compliance with RBI and international financial regulations, ensuring your funds are transferred reliably and securely. 

How do I transfer money to an Indian bank account?
