What is the call forwarding fraud?

Fraudsters may ask you to dial *401# followed by a mobile number in a call forwarding fraud. Don’t give in to the deceptive dialing requests!

How does this fraud happen?

The fraudster will lie about facing a problem with the Sim Card or a Network issue and state that dialing a specific code will fix these problems.
The fraudster will then ask you to dial a code starting with *401# followed by a mobile number.
Once you’ve fallen prey to the *401# trap, call forwarding gets activated on the fraudster’s mobile number & they will receive all your incoming calls, SMSes, sensitive information, and more.

Here’s how you can stay safe!

Check your mobile phone settings for call forwarding & disable immediately in case it is enabled.
Never give your phone to a stranger!
